Soil improvement at the Jakarta Airport
The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is 17th on the list of the world’s largest airports. To ensure that flight operation at the Jakarta Airport can be handled optimally in the future, a new runway is being constructed as a connection between the existing east takeoff and landing strips. For this project, Bauer Spezialtiefbau completed two main tasks: Extensive soil improvement over an area of 199,000 m² as well as foundation work for a runway bridge over the airport’s main access road with a total of 1,072 bored piles, with a diameter of 1.2 m up to a depth of 37 m. A large project with many challenges. But that was no problem for our experts.
