HDI columns for Zurich Enge station

Zurich Enge station, with around 19,000 daily users, was given a barrier-free extension with a ramp and a lift on two platforms. Bauer Spezialtiefbau Schweiz was responsible for the construction of watertight shoring for the shafts of the ramp and the lift shaft using HDI columns (jetting columns). A total of 118 columns with a diameter of 1.3 m were installed in a demanding night shift operation. The backflow during drilling was diverted into a basin. After the columns were constructed, steel beams were inserted and the excavation walls were stabilized with bracing. The project was successfully completed in June 2023.
