Foundation work for port in Alexandria
For the future: The port of Alexandria is one of the oldest harbors in the world as well as Egypt’s main port. Approximately 60% of Egypt’s exports and imports are handled here, which is why the port required an expansion. The new “Multi-Purpose Terminal 55/62” occupies an area of roughly 56 ha, which first has to be freed up and then made usable. The task for Bauer Spezialtiefbau? Foundation work for the semi-rectangular quay wall encompassing 225,897 m³: This comprises a front diaphragm wall, two rows of center piles and a rear row of barrette piles. The front diaphragm wall, 1,326 center piles in total and 660 rear barrette piles have a depth of up to 39 m.
