Diaphragm wall work for new subway line in Panama

This is the largest construction project since the expansion of the Panama Canal: Bauer Spezialtiefbau was tasked with challenging diaphragm wall work, barrettes and jet grouting (JG) for the construction of the new Line 3 of the metro. The new metro line includes a 6 km underground section and crosses the Panama Canal. For the starter shaft, 4,837 m³ of diaphragm wall were constructed in total during the first phase of the project. In the second phase, an additional 12,000 m³ were installed to connect the above-ground railway section with the underground section using the cut and cover method. Despite strict time constraints and difficult soil conditions, the work was completed successfully.
