Dam work for the Arun III hydroelectric power plant in Nepal
The Arun River in Nepal originates in the Himalayan range and flows through Tibet to China. It is the largest snow and ice region of all Nepalese river basins. A new hydroelectric power plant is currently being constructed that will produce up to 900 MW of electricity. BAUER Engineering India Pvt. Ltd installed a cut-off wall during the Arun III HEP project to ensure sealing and seepage water reduction below the cofferdam and in the abutments. Works included the execution of 3,500 linear meters of drilling and injection work on the cofferdam, including tube-à-manchette and annular grouting in the granular construction soil composed of sand, gravel, rubble and boulders. Due to the remote location in the Himalayas, not only the construction soil posed a major challenge, but also logistics. But that was no problem for our experts.
