Basel-Muttenz unbundling, Donnerbaum Bridge

The experts from Bauer Spezialtiefbau Schweiz carried out the challenging pile foundations for the 360 m long, S-shaped Donnerbaum Bridge for the SBB unbundling project in Basel. Six piers and the west abutment rest on piles up to 46 m deep (Ø 1.5 - 2 m), some of which were constructed with suspension support. A particular challenge was the transportation of drilling equipment via a temporary ramp and night-time work during track closures. Thanks to precise planning and efficient implementation, all the work was completed on schedule.
