Excavation pit construction for TBM rescue shaft and Freezing works
During the construction of Cairo Metro Line 3 near El Gish, an unexpected collapse buried the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) 30 m below street level. Bauer Egypt was swiftly called upon to undertake the critical task of rescuing the machine. Our experts stabilized the collapsed area with cement grouting and then constructed a secure 95 m deep diaphragm wall shaft, 18 m in diameter and 1,200 mm thick. To further facilitate the rescue, a 20 m section of the surrounding soil was frozen, allowing safe excavation and retrieval of the TBM, ensuring the project could proceed.
