Safeguarding measures on Helgoland
Roughly 50 km away from the mainland, Helgoland is Germany’s only island in the open sea and features an attractively unique natural landscape. Many of its visitors reach the island by ship and disembark from the harbor in southern Helgoland. To ensure ongoing accessibility, our Bauer experts prepared the pier in the harbor for the future over a length of roughly 70 m. Four different types of injection were used in total, with injection work on the sea side posing a particular challenge: Under full stress due to weather factors, breaking waves and tides, a rapidly binding injection grout curtain was executed for temporary shielding of the subsequent work phases. A thoroughly unique project surrounded by one-of-a-kind scenery.
