Rosshaupten dam rehabilitation

Unique Mixed-in-Place method

The Rosshaupten Dam on Forggensee Lake in Bavaria, near the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, comprises a 40 m tall earth wall. Our experts from Bauer Spezialtiefbau executed the construction of a cut-off wall made from clay concrete for this project, including drilling and injection works, up to a depth of 85 m. One unique aspect was the installation of our Mixed-in-Place cut-off wall for stabilization. Obstacles were removed up to a depth of 48 m and the cavities were backfilled with lean concrete. The cut-off wall was constructed without expanding the dam crest, assisted by special winter equipment for work at up to -20 °C. The weather conditions posed a particular challenge here. A large project with many challenges and a successful conclusion for our team.
