Rookwood Weir in Australia

Large infrastructure project

The Rookwood Weir project in Queensland, Australia is creating a new reservoir on the Fitzroy River for water supply, irrigation and flood protection. After its completion, the dam will have a staggering storage capacity of 76,000 megaliters, making it one of the largest reservoirs in Queensland. The team from BAUER Foundations Australia Pty. Ltd. installed a 112 m long cut-off wall made clay concrete here to reduce backwards erosion on the left shore. The 3,920 m² two-phase cut-off wall with a depth of up to 44 m is embedded in the varied base rock composed of basalt and andesite. With a nominal thickness of 800 mm and twenty-three panels, this supports the development of the region and protects against floods.
