Management – Strong together

Mario Theurl, born in 1976, began his career at STRABAG in Austria and Germany in 2002 as a technician and site manager in tunnelling and gained extensive experience as a project manager in numerous national and international large-scale and mega projects, including tunnelling, mining and the construction of pumped and hydroelectric power plants. After various management positions in the STRABAG Group, Mario Theurl was entrusted with the management of STRABAG Spa Chile in 2013, led the market entry and was responsible for the development of the company in South America. From 2016, he also took on the role of Managing Director (Gerente General) of Züblin International GmbH and was responsible for the development of STRABAG and Züblin in South America with around 7,000 employees in the following years. In February 2026, Mario Theurl al moved to BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH as CEO.

Mario Theurl studied at New York University Stern, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and HEC Paris and holds the Executive MBA (TRIUM). In 2001, he completed his studies as a civil engineer at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences and in 2008 he qualified as a Master Builder through the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

Harald Heinzelmann, born in 1961, studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich and graduated with a degree in engineering in 1989. Prior to that, he studied at the Technical University of Nuremberg from 1982 to 1984. Following his studies, he joined BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH in 1989, where he initially worked as a civil engineer, project manager, and project director on various domestic construction sites. From 2002 to 2007, Harald Heinzelmann was responsible for numerous large-scale projects as head of a project group in Germany. From 2007 to 2008, he headed the Business Division Techniques, overseeing technical services, design, logistics, equipment, and construction methods, while also serving as Head of the HSE and Quality Management departments. In 2007, he became a Member of the Management Board, and from 2009 onward, he served as Managing Director of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH with overall responsibility for major projects, HSE, and quality assurance worldwide. As a project director, he has been involved in numerous major international projects, including the construction of Terminal II at Munich Airport, the foundation work for the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the construction of a diaphragm wall for the Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada, and the challenging offshore foundation work for a wind farm off the French Atlantic coast.
