Foundation work for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge
In 2009, construction began on a gigantic infrastructure project: the Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge. This 55 m long bridge shortened the travel time from Hong Kong to mainland China from four and a half hours to a mere 40 minutes. It connects the cities of Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai with a series of bridges, tunnels and artificial islands. For the 10 km long “Hong Kong Link Road” section, Bauer carried out the necessary piling works. What makes this project unique: The work involved installing a total of 230 offshore piles with lengths of up to 115 m, a maximum diameter of 2.5 m and up to 5 m of rock socketing. This megaproject was a major challenge, but not a problem for the experts from Bauer.
