Dike rehabilitation in Schaan, Liechtenstein

This was the first foundation project of its kind in the Principality of Liechtenstein – a novelty in the heart of Europe. The dike in Schaan on the Rhine River provides protection and marks the border between the most populous community of Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Our experts from Bauer Spezialtiefbau reinforced the dike with a Mixed-in-Place cut-off wall: a total of 5,200 m² with a thickness of 37 cm and a maximum depth of 10 m, executed using an RG 16. The soil posed a particular challenge, as it was composed of backfill material and deposits, followed by Rhine gravel.
