Diaphragm wall work for Operaparken in Copenhagen

Working right next door to the Royal Opera House? Far from typical. But that’s what happened on the site in Copenhagen. The "Operaparken" project involved more than just the construction of an underground garage. This unique building project also fulfills special quality and design requirements: This underground garage with 300 parking spots is entirely hidden below ground level, and the surface is utilized as a green park. Bauer Spezialtiefbau executed a two-layered anchored diaphragm wall, which will later form the permanent exterior wall of the underground garage. A total of 6,600 m² of diaphragm wall were constructed and then fixed in place with 189 anchors. The challenges: Due to the pandemic and logistical difficulties, the multinational team had to work full force.
