Diaphragm wall for Monte Grande dam
The Monte Grande dam in the southwestern province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic is an important infrastructure project which unites flood protection, energy production using hydroelectric power, tourism and agriculture. The team from Bauer Spezialtiefbau received two different orders for this project: In Phase 1, 26,000 m² of cut-off wall were installed over a length of 1,350 m and with depths up to 31 m. For Phase 2, Bauer constructed 55 panels with a thickness of 800 mm for the diaphragm wall. But that was far from all: The different height levels and protecting animal habitats posed a particular challenge. This was far from easy, but our experts managed it without a problem.
