Dam work for Peribonka Dam in Canada

Extraordinarily deep cut-off wall

The Peribonka Dam in Québec, Canada is a spectacular project involving the construction of an embankment and a run-of-river power station with a capacity of 385 MW. For this task, the experts from Bauer Spezialtiefbau installed an extraordinarily deep cut-off wall made of clay concrete that is embedded into the rock up to a staggering depth of 116 m. Thanks to innovative cutting technology and tailored solutions, it was possible to overcome the challenges of hard granite rock and complex soil conditions. Apart from the cut-off wall, Bauer also carried out soil improvement, rock consolidation and installed a sealing curtain up to a depth of 150 m. The cutter-excavated diaphragm wall has proven to be an effective solution for dams with difficult soil conditions.
