Dam rehabilitation for Teller Dam in Colorado

Seepage barriers for protection

The Teller Dam on Turkey Creek River is located on the grounds of the US base Fort Carson south of Colorado Springs in Colorado. The goal is to use a seepage barrier to interrupt potential groundwater flows that can contribute to the internal erosion of the dam along the contact between the dam and abutment. The leakage barrier consists of two sections: a secant pile wall in the left area of the dam and a sealing curtain that reduces the seepage paths in the left abutment. Our experts were tasked with executing this secant pile wall along with other drilling and injection work. The secant pile wall with a total of 1,189 m² extends over a length of 106 m and reaches a depth of up to 36.5 m. The 1,175 m² sealing curtain was constructed through drilling and injections to penetrate unconsolidated material and rock stone and to identify potential rock fissures.
