Cut-off wall work in East St. Louis
In the U.S. state of Illinois, an existing levee system was upgraded on the east bank of the Mississippi. Due to the sandy subsoil, which allowed water to seep in and caused erosion, extensive rehabilitation and restoration of the existing dike was necessary. Using a combination of gripping and cutting technology and by adding a self-hardening slurry, our team constructed around 53,000 m² of single-phase cut-off wall over a length of 1.4 km. What makes this project unique: the cut-off wall elements were installed up to a maximum depth of 43.5 m. An outstanding feat on the banks of the Mississippi.
