UBCO Kelowna Campus

Excavation of Education

Bauer Foundations Canada were awarded the construction of a temporary Cutter-Soil-Mixing (CSM) shoring and Cut-off-wall to support the excavation for underground parking at the new UBC Kelowna campus. The new downtown state of the art education facility and student housing will stretch 43 stories high. A total of 110 cutter soil panels were installed to a depth of 30 m to retain the surrounding soil and prevent water from entering the construction site. Ground conditions on the site were challenging with loose lake deposits and a high-water table. Timber piles from a previous building created challenges during installation and were removed to prior to continuing installation of the CSM wall. Commitment to quality: Experts to overcome obstacles.
