Surface Hole Drilling for the Leyte Geothermal Production Field

Unlocking geothermal potential

The Leyte Geothermal Production Field (LGPF) is one of the Philippine's largest wet steam fields. As part of a larger capital expenditure program, additional wells are required, and Bauer Philippines was selected to carry out the Surface Hole Drilling and Conductor Casing Setting. The 2nd campaign consists of drilling ten Geothermal Wells at a maximum depth of 150 m and setting of 26 in diameter conductor casing. The project was in six different pad locations in Tongonan. Despite the challenges of drilling in hard strata and encountering high-temperature gradient profile, the project was successfully completed using BG 40 drillingrill rig with 90 m Kelly bar and 12 m extension. Bauer has again been contracted for surface hole drilling and conductor casing setting in Negros and Leyte Geothermal Plant Production Fields under the 3rd Campaign. The project was successfully executed, with a total of nine geothermal wells of 150 m depth and 1200 mm diameter installed.
