Soil Improvement for Banyuwangi Airport

Banyuwangi is considered to be Indonesia's port city and is very large with a population of over 100,000. PT. Angkasa Pura II is planning to develop Banyuwangi Airport into an international airport and commissioned the experts from P.T. BAUER Pratama Indonesia to carry out the necessary work. The project includes soil improvement to create a stable structure above the compressible layer with FDC (Full Displacement Column) columns. These columns have a diameter of 420 mm, are 12 m long and cover a total area of 7,000 m². Due to local unfamiliarity with the mix design, additional effort was required for trial mixes. Accordingly, the work took place between 22:00 and 04:00, using two BG 28 drilling rigs. Despite the strict working hours, the project was completed on time and with high quality.
