Excavation pit construction for Ismailia Tunnels under Suez Canal

Stabilizing the Suez Twin Tunnels

Bauer Egypt was commissioned to carry out essential geotechnical works for the construction of twin car tunnels supplementing the new Suez Canal in Ismailia. This ambitious project involves crossing both the old and the new Suez Canal with a total tunnel length of approximately 5,975 m. Bauer Egypt’s role focused on the TBM entry and exit zones, as well as the construction of four deep ventilation shafts along the tunnel passage. The scope of work included constructing 50,218  m² of diaphragm walls, with thicknesses ranging from 1,000 mm to 1,500 mm, and depths up to 50 m. Additionally, a 21,250  m² soft gel grout plug was installed at a 50 mdepth to stabilize the structure. Our experts successfully completed the project and ensured future stability and safety.
